1. Be a Dedicated, Respectful, and Nurturing Guardian

What parent should to do to build up their child a successful person in life? Just consider your profession as like your child. If you can do that you have the highest possibility to succeed in the professional life. To be a successful guardian you should be dedicated, respectful to your child I mean to your profession. I believe if one can manage a joint family successfully, he/she can manage an organization successfully. As a guardian your primary and inevitable focus is to provide unwavering support, guidance, and care under your protection.

If you want to be a good guardian you have to know about your internal and external responsibilities of your organization.

Internal responsibilities
  • You have to align with the organization’s long-term values by embracing its objectives, strategy, mission, and vision.
  • You should engage with project team members respectfully, considering aspects like compensation, opportunities, and fair treatment.
  • A steward should provide persistent monitoring of organizational finances, materials, and other resources.
  • Exercise a clear understanding of the proper use of authority, accountability, and responsibility.
External responsibilities

You should take care of

  • Environmental sustainability.
  • Utilization of materials and natural resources by the organization.
  • Interaction with external stakeholders such as partners, vendors, and other collaborators.
  • Impact of the project (and the organization) on the market, social community, and operating regions.
  • Pushing the boundaries of expertise in professional fields.

The implicit and explicit duties you as a steward need to consider which may include

  • Integrity – You should conduct themselves with honesty and adherence to ethical principles.
  • Care – A steward responsibly manage organizational affairs entrusted to them as fiduciaries.
  • Trustworthiness – A guardian accurately portray themselves, their roles, authority, and project team, fostering trust both internally and externally.
  • Compliance – Stewards adhere to laws, rules, regulations, and requirements, whether within or outside the organization.
